Day of the Child Celebration – May 4, 2019

Area families and children are invited to attend the Día del Niño / Day of the Child Celebration at Brodhead High School on May 4, 2019 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm sponsored by the MultiCultural Outreach Program.

Dia del Niño translates to Day of the Child and is an internationally recognized day that celebrates all children of the world. In Latin America, the day is observed on April 30th and is observed in all of the schools, churches, and communities.

The celebration in Brodhead has a hispanic theme with activities and crafts for the children, a bouncy house, and a special performance of traditional Mexican dances by the children of the Beloit Even Start Dancers. Empanadas and beverages will be served and families are invited to bring potluck dishes to share along with their own table service.

The MultiCultural Outreach Program is a part of the Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action Program (SWCAP) and is a coalition of volunteers who have come together to support immigrants, celebrate cultural diversity, and build bridges between community members. The MultiCultural Outreach Program began in Lafayette, Iowa, Grant, and Richland counties and is currently forging a partnership with Green County organizers. This group organizes several events in addition to Día del Niño and provides education for the public around immigration issues.

The following organizations have contributed to the Día del Niño: Monroe Morning Optimists, Brodhead Optimist Club, Brodhead Schools and students, Monroe High School students, Orfordville Schools, Green Haven Family Advocates, Better Brodhead, Green County 4H, and other individuals. For more information, contact: Natasha Morgan at
